LG Display announced that it will showcase next-generation technologies and cutting-edge products at ISE 2011 (Integrated Systems in Europe 2011), scheduled to take place in Amsterdam, the Netherlands from February 1 to 3.
LG Display plans to unveil its cutting-edge technological capacities and next-generation technologies in the area of public display, demonstrating the limitless possibilities of displays.
Jun Joon, Vice President and head of Public Display Department at LG Display noted, “Unlike the TV and IT display markets that have reached maturity and are showing signs of slowing down, the public display market is one of the emerging markets with the highest growth potential. We plan to take an aggressive approach in pioneering the market by introducing our leading technologies to a greater number of customers at the exhibition.”
LCD Panel Featuring the World’s Narrowest Bezel
LG Display will reveal an LCD panel for public displays featuring the world’s narrowest bezel. The public display panel will be shown in a 111-inch multi-vision format featuring nine 37-inch panels. The boarder (bezel) is just 4mm between panels, enabling natural-looking images and the freedom to change the shape and form of public displays.
Also the panel is based on the concept of freely expanding the size of public displays as necessary. With a thinner border allowing for seamless images, there are no limits to the number of panels that can be put together or constraints in terms of screen size or form.
Innovative product: Mirror Display
LG Display will also unveil a 32-inch mirror display at the exhibition. This smart panel, which is a mirror ordinarily, can turns into a display when approached by people or whenever necessary. Working both as a mirror and a screen to display advertisements, the product has high potential for commercialization in the near future.
Next-Generation Technology: Window Display
LG Display will show a wide range of next-generation products. One such product is the advanced 47-inch window display that can be used as a regular window glass and as a transparent display with a mere touch. The panel can not only be used as a ‘smart window’ with its brightness control function for sunlight, but can also be utilized as display screen. The panel can be used in the darkness during the night time by using its LED backlight embedded. Vice versa in a day time, panel can be used without backlight, therefore saving power consumption greatly. Also its touch function (optical touch method using infrared sensor) enables the display to appear like an ordinary window with the button-less design.
